With 120 years in motorsport, Mercedes-Benz have had a very good run, thanks in large to the dedication of their skilled and committed drivers.

The Central Feature

Gerry Judah, who is the artistic brains at Goodwood, designed this year’s Central Feature. The sculpture, which takes pride of place in front of Goodwood House, changes every year and this year it is celebrating Mercedes.
The marque are celebrating 100 years since their victory at the French Grand Prix in 1914, with their famed 1-2-3 win. The sculpture is rumoured to be the most spectacular one to date; it will make its official premier on 26th June during the evening of the Moving Motor Show.

On-track Action

All eyes will be on Lewis Hamilton as he leads in his Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 vehicle on Sunday as he tackles the Goodwood Hill, which is 1.16 miles. Accompanying Hamilton will be cars from the past 100 years including a W 125, aW 165 Silver Arrows and a Grand Prix racing car from Mercedes’ famous 1914 win.
A 1957 300 SLS will also take to the track alongside a 1981 500 SL rally car; both are amongst the rarest cars on the Goodwood Hill this year.
Mercedes’ team boast a range of iconic drivers including Anthony Davidson, Johnny Herbert, Sir Stirling Moss, Roland Asch, Sir Jackie Stewart and Klaus Ludwig, amongst others.

Technology

The Mercedes-Benz concept car is the AMG Vision for Gran Turismo; this was first seen at the 2013 Los Angeles Motor Show and will be making its UK debut at this year’s FoS.
Visitors will have the chance to drive the vehicle on the Goodwood Hill, but only via a video game – the Gran Turismo 6 for the Sony PlayStation 3.
