MINI expand their hatchback range by adding a 5-door variant
MINI recently released their all-new hatchback and now they are expanding the model range by adding the new MINI 5-door Hatch. For the first time ever, the MINI has been offered with two rear doors and greater practicality.
MINI Cooper 5-door design and practicality
MINI stick with their well-known appearance, offering a choice of two solid and nine metallic paint colours and they have brought back the ‘Electric Blue’ colour as it was a customer favourite. For no extra cost, all models can have the roof and exterior mirror caps finished in a contrasting colour, black or white.
Once the key is in the car, you can press the toggle start/stop button in the middle of the centre console which will glow red and start the MINI 5-door Hatch engine.
Rear passengers are given 72 millimetres more legroom in the new 5-door model, as well as 15 millimetres of extra headroom.
Boot capacity has increased by 67 litres compared to the 3-door Hatch, giving you a total of 278 litres of boot space. Fold the 60:40 split rear seats down and you can expand the load capacity to 941 litres.
Performance, engines and the new Cooper SD
There are four engines that benefit from MINI’s TwinPower Turbo Technology. The first is a 136bhp 3-cylinder petrol engine, which powers the MINI Cooper 5-door Hatch.
Next is a 4-cylinder petrol engine that has an output of 192bhp and is found in the Cooper S; this engine can reach 62mph in just 6.8 seconds.
The third is the new MINI Cooper D’s engine, a 116bhp 3-cylinder diesel engine offering offers 78.5 miles per gallon on a combined cycle and a CO2 emissions reading of 95g/km.
The new MINI Cooper SD 5-door Hatch holds the remaining engine; a new 2.0 litre 4-cylinder diesel with 170bhp. Reaching 62mph in 7.4 seconds and returning 68.9mph, this engine is fun and frugal.
All models of the 5-door Hatch meet the EU6 exhaust emission standard.
Standard equipment and optional extras
MINI have included a high level of standard equipment in the 5-door Hatch, including Bluetooth, USB interface, front fog lamps, on-board computer and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors. Air-conditioning is also available as an optional no-cost extra.
The Cooper S and SD come with sport seats as standard and are optional for the other 5-door Hatch models.
Other optional extras include: heated front seats, panoramic glass roof, two-zone automatic air-conditioning, rain sensors, automatic light control, windscreen heating, ambient interior lighting, LED fog lamps, Comfort Access, additional storage, a Harman Kardon hi-fi speaker system, sports leather steering wheel, Park Distance Control and electrically heated and folding exterior mirrors.
Pricing and launch of the 5-door MINI Hatch
The Mini 5-door Hatch will be available this autumn with prices starting from £15,900 OTR. The Cooper D will start from £17,050 OTR and the Cooper S will start from £19,255. The new Cooper SD 5-door Hatch starts from £20,050 OTR.
