Ford Mustang Birthday parade at Silverstone Classic

In celebration of the Ford Mustang’s 50^th birthday, the Mustang P51 air display took to the sky while a parade of iconic Ford Mustang models graced the track 

This was the biggest ever gathering of the ‘Pony Car’ with in-field displays featuring over 100 models from the past 50 years; including legendary models from movies such as Gone in 60 Seconds, American Gangster and Bullitt.

These iconic muscle cars were joined by the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang.

Mustang’s celebrations

Pure Michigan (the US State’s official travel and tourism division) supported a number of other displays and muscle car races as well as the Mustang P51 air display.

Two blistering Mustang Celebration races were presented by Pure Michigan and both boasted 30 race-prepared Mustangs in their 58-car grid line-up.

The line-up also featured some iconic Shelby GT350s and former F1 driver and Le Mans winner, Jackie Oliver.

2015 Ford Mustang

The new 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine boasts 310 horsepower and 320lb/ft of torque, while the 5.0 litre V8 engine will produce 435 horsepower and 400lb/ft of torque.

The 2015 Ford Mustang offers fully independent front and rear suspension, and an advanced lightweight body structure made with high-strength steel and aluminium for excellent ride and handling.

Ford announced that the brake and chassis performance packages will be included as standard for European customers.

Mustang’s chief engineer, Dave Pericak, said;

“Mustang is all about performance and the performance packs give our customers what they are looking for straight from the factory.”

Both variants will be available in the UK next year when the 2015 Ford Mustang goes on sale and the details for the fastback and convertible models are to be announced at a later date.
